Choosing the right paint
Choosing the right paints for your home - interior and exterior.
Making sure you are using the correct paint, papers and decorating materials for what your doing is very important. Making the wrong choices at this stage can prove costly in both time and money. However, getting things right at the start of your decorating projects will allow you to decorate with confidence, and your decorating will look better for much longer. You will also find the decorating process easier and more enjoyable.
Every part of your home is different and will benefit by getting the paint selection right. For example, you wouldn't use the same type of paint for a bedroom as you would in a bathroom or use the same paint indoors as you would outdoors. Paints are made differently so they perform better and last longer in different areas. There are also lots of surfaces in your home, such as, walls, woodwork and metal, that need to be approached differently to get the best results. This will eventually save you a lot of time and money. Making sure you're using the correct primers and undercoats can make decorating easier, giving your topcoat a good, clean, sound surface to grip to.
It's always best to buy quality paints, cheaper paints have less covering power, can dry patchy and look unattractive. They usually struggle to cover in two coats and sometimes need 4 or more coats to achieve coverage! Over time cheaper paints will not perform as well as a quality trade or designer paint when it comes to strength. They are only available in a limited colour range as they are usually made and sold in bulk. Quality paints will save you time, money and make whatever you are decorating look fantastic.
In most situations and before starting any decorating works, we recommend simply reading the back of the paint can thoroughly. The more knowledge of the product you're using the better. Things like re-coat times, drying times, and coverage information are important things to know.
We have seen many people over the years who have been poorly advised on the products they're using, causing confusion and frustration. We have tried to put as much information about the products we sell on to the site, however, if you have any questions about the products on this site, please contact us before ordering and we will guide you through any problems/queries you have.
With more brands, colours, and choices than ever, it's of utmost importance to us that you get things right, first time.
